Privacy Policy
Blackweb Studio is a design and web studio run by Isaiah Short in Raleigh, North Carolina. This policy explains what information we collect through blackweb.studio, our client dashboard and the reporting tools inside it, what we do with it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email hello@blackweb.studio.
Information we collect
- Inquiries. When you use a contact or inquiry form we collect what you type: your name, email, company and project details.
- Proposals and agreements. When you build a proposal or sign an agreement we keep your answers, the signed text, the name you typed as your signature, the time you signed, and your IP address and browser type as a record of the signature.
- Payments. Payments are handled by Stripe. We see what was paid and when, but never your full card number.
- Client dashboard. If you are a client, we keep your login email and name, and the files, messages, approvals and reviews you share with us there.
- Online Presence Audit. If you request an audit we keep the business name, website, goal and profiles you entered, what the audit read from them, and the name, email and optional phone number you gave for the results. Described in its own section below.
- Mailing list. If you sign up, we keep your email address with our email provider, Resend.
- Site analytics. With your permission (see Cookies below), Google Analytics records how visitors use this site, such as pages viewed and where visits come from.
- Google data for clients we manage. Described in its own section below.
How we use it
We use this information to answer inquiries, prepare proposals and agreements, deliver and bill for the work you hired us for, run your client dashboard, send the emails you asked for, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
The Online Presence Audit
What it reads. Only public pages: your website’s homepage and a few key pages linked from it, its robots.txt and sitemap, and the public social profiles you give or your site links to. It never signs in anywhere. It reads a social profile only where that platform’s robots.txt allows automated visitors, and otherwise notes that it couldn’t. Google’s PageSpeed Insights also loads your homepage to measure its speed.
How it’s assessed. The page text and a few images from your site are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, to write the assessment. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
Your details. We use your name, email and phone number to send you your report and to follow up about it if you want to talk. We keep a one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself, to stop repeated or automated submissions. Your report is private: it lives at an address only you are sent, and it is never indexed by search engines. We keep audits and the details given with them until you ask us to delete them; email hello@blackweb.studio.
Google user data
The client dashboard includes a reporting tool that only Blackweb Studio uses, for clients who have hired us to look after their website and marketing. You can read more about it on the client dashboard page.
What it accesses. With the client’s permission, and only for accounts the client has shared with us, the tool reads data from Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Ads (including Keyword Planner) and Google Business Profile. That includes site visits and conversions, the searches a site appears for, ad campaign, keyword and search-term performance, keyword ideas, and business profile performance and reviews. Its access is read-only: it never changes a campaign, budget, profile or site setting.
How it is used. Only to show that client’s performance reports to us, to point out opportunities to improve their site and ads, and to draft suggestions such as blog post ideas, ad text and replies to reviews, which we check before anything is used. It is never used for any other client, for advertising, or to build profiles of individuals.
Sharing. We do not sell Google user data or share it with anyone except the service providers needed to run the tool (listed below). When we ask the tool’s AI assistant a question about a client, the relevant figures are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, only to produce that answer. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models, and we do not use Google user data to develop, improve or train generalised AI or machine-learning models.
Storage and deletion. Reports are read live from Google. Some summaries, saved questions and drafts are kept in our database so they load quickly and keep their history. We delete a client’s stored Google data within 30 days of their request, or when our work for them ends. A client can also remove our access at any time in their Google account settings (myaccount.google.com/permissions) or by removing our access in the Google product itself.
Blackweb Studio’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of companies to run the site and dashboard. Each only gets what it needs to do its job:
- Vercel, which hosts the site.
- Supabase, which stores dashboard accounts, files and records.
- Stripe, which takes payments.
- Resend, which sends our emails.
- Google, for Analytics and the Google products above.
- Anthropic, our AI provider, as described above.
- DataForSEO, which checks a client’s search rankings. It is sent the searches being tracked and the client’s web address, nothing personal.
- GitHub, where blog posts we write for a client are sent to that client’s website code for review.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights in a dispute.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use it. Google Analytics sets cookies only if you accept them in the cookie notice; if you decline, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your answer any time with “Cookie choices” at the bottom of every page. Analytics is never used in the client dashboard. The dashboard uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in.
Mailing list
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away. We only use your address to send you notes on growing your business.
How long we keep it
Inquiries are kept while we talk about the work and for up to two years afterwards. Signed agreements, invoices and payment records are kept as long as the law requires for business records. Client dashboard content is kept while you are a client and deleted on request after our work ends.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections, dashboard data is protected so each client can only see their own, and access to the reporting tool is limited to Blackweb Studio. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect what you share.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@blackweb.studio. We will reply within 30 days. This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date below. Significant changes will be shown on the site or emailed to clients.
